A lot is happening in the sub-10k category of smartphones. Motorola recently released the Moto G8 Plus which marks the return of the Moto G-lineup in the lower mid-range segment and also the ending of the Motorola One series.
Motorola always tries to offer its customers features found in devices a segment above with the G-series smartphones. This time the Moto G8 Plus has put its main focus on the cameras and it also has the Dolby-backed stereo speakers.
The latest Moto G8 is the perfect device for those looking for a camera phone that comes at a pocket-friendly price.
The Moto G8 Plus looks similar to the Motorola One Macro. It sports a polycarbonate body and comes in Cosmic Blue and Crystal Pink colors, that looks nice. The Blue color has even a purplish highlight to it.
The back of the phone causes smudges and fingerprints each time you pick up the device. Therefore it is suggested that you use the clear case included in the box. The rear panel also holds the fingerprint sensor built into the Motorola logo.
The sensor works as you would expect it – making the unlocking experience fast and hassle-free. The sides are slightly glossy and hence it can get a little slippery at times. It has a textured power button that has good tactile feedback and so does the volume rocker, but the latter is placed a little too high.
The tray on the left can accept two Nano-SIM cards, and the second slot can accept a microSD card (up to 512GB) in lieu of a SIM.
The Moto G8 Plus comes with 6.3-inch 19:9 aspect ratio Full HD+ IPS LCD panel for duty and it looks good at first glance, fast charging, three sensors at the back — a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera especially for GoPro-style videos; and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.
The Motorola Moto G8 Plus also has a laser autofocus mode and an LED flash. Both the front and rear cameras have the quad-pixel technology for capturing more details. The camera app is easy to master, thanks to a more simple layout.
Apart from the main shooting modes, you can access a separate menu of additional modes such as Panorama, Portrait, and Night Vision, plus some fun modes like Cutout and Spot Colour .
